Amazon Launches Kindle Indie Bookstore

Amazon_kindle_bookstore
Amazon has this month launched its first Kindle Indie book store. This has come as great news to indie, e publishers - like myself - around the world. If you're looking to publish your digital book, this is certainly the way to go.

(What are Indie books? They are books published by Independent authors/publishers who're not affiliated to established publishing companies like Harper Collins for example. It's the same idea of indie musical bands. Kindle indie books are merely those independent books published on kindle).

Readers can log into the Kindle store and browse for an e book at their heart's content. There are currently only 7 genres available in the store front. These are obviously the popular ones like memoirs and thrillers etc. We hope in time, that Amazon will see how popular this is with readers and general users of the site, and would extend their lists to cover most of the genres of e books available.

What you should know about Amazon's e books

(Quick facts about publishing on KDP)

Top selling  e books in each genre are updated hourly.

Top 7 popular categories (the ones people are mostly buying) are listed in the digital book store.

Amazon editors, and they only, pick featured authors of said digital books.

Only highly rated and top selling  e books get listed in the Kindle Indie store.

My sons gave me a Kindle for my birthday, and so far I have no time to explore how to use it yet. I spent way too much time on the soccer field, and it would be nice to have something to read..

Interesting! Amazon have been desperate to claw back subscribers ever since the Wikileaks saga earlier this year. Many of my friends including myself are still boycotting Amazon despite our love of Indie books. People who submit to Amazon should be aware of who they're getting in bed with...Cheers!

Yes, it is interesting, the published world has emerged from traditional to nontraditional.

It's good to see Indie books getting more attention. I'll have to take a look at the new bookstore.
